India Post Launches Special Cover On RD Burman’s Birthday

India Post has issued a special cover on R.D.Burman on the musical maestro’s 80 th birth anniversary in Kolkata. It was a national tribute to the musical genius remembering his outstanding contribution in popular music scene. Amit Kumar Fan Club has initiated the special cover which got released in presence of Amitabh Singh, Post Master General, Kolkata region singers like Usha Utthup, Javed Ali, Akriti Kakkar at the musical “Aati Rahengi Baharen” organized by Centrestage on Pancham da’s 80th birth anniversary at Nazrul Manch.

R.D.Burman was born on 27 June,1939 in Kolkata. Amit Kumar Fan Club has also installed his first bust in city on southern avenue near Nazrul Manch bus stop in 2014. Amit Kumar had very close association with R.D.Burman and sang more than 150 songs for the maestro. Keeping that in mind it was a special tribute from our city. Amit Kumar said, ” It’s an honor. I always consider him as my mentor after my father. He helped me to establish my own identity as a singer. Miss him badly.” The special cover features a color picture besides a few images of film posters in which he composed music for like Bhoot Bungla, Hum Kisise Kum Nahin, Love Story, Teesri Manzil, Manzil etc.
